Yes — Tab.it is built with five layers of privacy that filter your messages before they ever reach the expense engine: 1. Contact-based exclusion (android-only): any SMS from a saved contact is skipped automatically, so messages from friends and family are never read. 2. Digit pre-filter: any SMS that doesn't contain a number is ignored before processing — rules out most personal messages. 3. Negative keyword blocking: SMS containing built-in or your own custom negative keywords are blocked. You control this list. 4. Positive keyword allowlist: only SMS matching known spending-related keywords (bank names, transaction words like 'debited', 'spent') are processed. 5. Visual filtering (optional): when SMS filter notifications are enabled, you see every blocked access and why — full transparency, always.
